Our Next President

So it's no secret I'm pretty sold on Barack Obama, who is about to take this country by storm, turn the page, bring hope, usher in a new era, insert other cliche here...say what you will, he's the real deal. And I'll be honest in admitting that my enthusiasm comes not from in-depth analysis of his specific policy views (about which I know very little) but from the respect I have for him personally from reading "Dreams From My Father" and watching him in action. Just how he talks to people and how he talks about the future puts me in a good mood, and his wife is a powerhouse, and if that's fluffy support, so be it. But husband just showed me a link, and I was interested to see that without even knowing it, I am in "88% substantive agreement" with Obama after answering a few short questions about my views.

Give it a try.

I'm closest to Obama, furthest from Fred--blech--Thompson. How about you?

Note: the proper link explaining the false/absurd email floating around about Obama is right here.

We think alike, therefore we are friends. I was also closest to Barack and furthest away from Dead Thompson. You're my friend, your special to me.

Oh no, don't judge me for typing you're wrong...

I was furthest away from Fred Thompson, but to my utter disgust, the thing said I was closest to Ron Paul. However, mostly because I agree with Paul only 39% of the time, I think my 69% substantive agreement with Edwards and Obama is more indicative of where I line up.

Crazy little quiz. I quite enjoyed it!

What, hilary's little emotional, public display didn't soften you right up for her?? Jes joshin. I like the BO (barack Obama) as well, except I received a somewhat werid and disturbing email/forward about him, that I should send on to you and 'Drew to dissect.

Let me know if you're intersted. I'm a little upset I read it..

Ciao. Happy birthday to your husband.

I was also furthest from Fred Thompson, but closest to Bill Richardson--too bad he dropped out of the race. How did you find out what your percentages were?

Linds, there should be a pencil icon on the chart that shows your results. Click on that (I think it's a pencil, something like that, when you hover over it, it says "analyze my results") and the percentages are explained.

To Katie and anyone else who has received "disturbing emails" about Senator Obama, check out this link on Snopes, debunking all that garbage.

I was also in substantive agreement with Senator Obama on like 81% of things. And I'm damn proud of it, 'cause he's our next president, and maybe, finally, we'll have some sanity in the oval office.

I like that little quiz...I too am closest to Obama...but mostly due to my Iraq position, and all that means is the quiz is simplifying the issue in relation to the candidate.

And Gurr, for the record, this is the second time this year we have been rooting for different candidiates, first McConkie and now Obama...how is our friendship going to make it :)

I think Obama rocks, don't get me wrong. But he's a litte too wet-behind-the-ears for me. In some places, like the White House, I think experience is a plus. Just saying.

It is not experience that has caused this nation to go down the wrong path, it is the wrong party (he he). While Obama has a lot going for him, and it is nice to see a new face in the mix, he hasn't even completed half of a full term in the Senate. Come on.

Will you still go to lunch with me?

Supalinds,

Candidate differences can never ruin our lunch dates! I'm not anti-Hillary, and if she's elected I really think she'll know what she's doing. I'm just ready for the 90s to be over, you know?

And, I'm convinced we give too much credit to so-called "experience" which usually just means you're stuck with how things have always been done...I figure a little less time in the Senate means he owes fewer people favors, and fewer people hate him, and he has less rage.

Plus, if plain old time in the Senate makes you a better president, we should've elected Strom Thurmond. Come on.

I love your blog--you make a lot of sense! But the generation gap shows--I was closest to Giulani, farthest from Obama.

Looks like I'm furthest away from Obama and closest to Ron Paul...um?!?! But I make fun of Ron Paul, and I took it twice to try and get away from him. Does that mean that I'm making fun of myself? I hope not. Whatever. I support Mitt Romney and even though I support Mitty this time and you support Obama-ey, I bet we could still get a jamba juice and talk about your pregnancy and my teaching. Yeah?

P.S. At least I wasn't close to Fred.

Closest to Fred Thompson. Obama is a liberal. He will raise taxes.

Andrew said...

'Cause that's all liberals do, right anonymous?

While we're generalizing, let's make some generalizations about Conservatives, like Zombie, er, Fred Thompson:

He'll cut taxes without cutting spending, all while starting two wars, one of which is unnecessary and based on cherry-picked intelligence and cost trillions of dollars, saddle our children with the largest deficit our country has ever seen, and generally ignore the rule of law and the Constitution.

Hooray for conservatives!!!

I really like this quiz. It's nice to focus on the issues rather than other matters. Not that you really care, but I came out closes to Edwards. It was interesting to me!

Every quiz I have ever taken like this has put me right next to Dennis Kucinich... However, this time I seem to be right in Obama's corner. Seams that I am on the right track.

Anti-Hillarey. I support Mitt Romney. I tend to base my vote on the person themselves, not so much their political agenda. Barack would be my second choice just because I can't help but like him. Call me crazy, but the actual person is more important to me than the their platform.
